BIOGRAPHIE
Née en 1981 à Le Mans (France), je vis et travaille à Marseille depuis 2013.
Quand j’étais enfant, je passais beaucoup de temps seule à dessiner, colorier, chanter, écouter de la musique et explorer mon environnement pour en connaître les moindres détails. Il y avait des zones d’ombre, en moi et autour de moi, j’avais besoin de trouver ma propre lumière. Mon désir de voir et de comprendre le monde est peut-être à l’origine de ma démarche, à moins que ce ne soit ma rencontre avec une boule de foudre…
Ma pratique artistique a réellement commencé en 2000, lors de mon premier stage dans une association culturelle en Camargue pendant lequel je devais réaliser des reportages photographiques de la région. Cette expérience a été un tournant dans ma vie, au point de tout quitter et de rester vivre dans le sud de la France pour étudier les arts plastiques à l’université de Nîmes. Pendant trois ans, j’ai pu expérimenter différents médiums, développer mon langage plastique et découvrir le travail de nombreux artistes, philosophes et théoriciens. Après ma licence, je me suis ensuite installée à Paris où j’ai poursuivi mon cursus universitaire et obtenu une maîtrise et un MASTER II en 2006 à Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Ne souhaitant pas devenir enseignante, ni faire un doctorat, j’ai fait le choix de travailler dans le domaine de la culture tout en continuant de me consacrer à mes recherches et ma pratique.
Quelques années plus tard, j’ai souhaité me perfectionner en photographique dans une école internationale, ce qui m’a permis d’expérimenter davantage le travail de prise de vue et l’éclairage en studio. Durant toutes ces années, la photographie a été mon principal médium, un moyen d’écrire avec la lumière via une multitude d’approches et de sujets. En 2012, au retour d’un voyage à Florence en Italie, je ne supportais plus de vivre à Paris au point de prendre la décision de retourner en Provence en 2013, pour me rapprocher de ses contrastes, sa lumière et sa proximité avec la Nature. Inconsciemment, il y a avait aussi certainement l’envie de retourner là où tout avait vraiment commencé pour moi.
L’année 2019 marque le début d’un changement radical, une sorte de renaissance dans ma vie et ma pratique. Suite à une période de convalescence m’ayant contraint à rester chez moi pendant plusieurs mois, mon travail s'est progressivement rapproché de l’abstraction, du dessin et de l’écriture jusqu’à abandonner définitivement la photographie comme médium. Aujourd’hui, je travaille principalement sur papier, mais je souhaite développer mon travail en trois dimensions.
Mon travail a été publié dans des revues internationales et a été montré dans des expositions collectives en France, Suisse, Allemagne et Angleterre. Ma première exposition personnelle a eu lieu à la Galerie du Tableau à Marseille en 2021.
BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1981at Le Mans (France), I live and work in Marseille since 2013.
As a child, I spent a lot of time on my own drawing, colouring, singing, listening to music and exploring my environment to know every part of it. However, there were shadows, in me and around me, so I needed to learn how to find my own light. My desire to see and understand the world might be the starting point of my artistic statement, or maybe my encounter with a ball lightning…
My journey as an artist started in 2000, when I had the opportunity to be an intern as a photographer for a cultural association in Camargue (South of France). This experience opened such a new world to me that I chose to stay in the south of France to study visual arts for three years. After graduating from University of Nîmes, where I experimented many artistic technics and discovered the work of many artists, philosophers and theoreticians, I moved to Paris to pursue my studies at University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, where I graduated a MA and a MASTER in 2006. After that mixed experience, I didn’t want to become a teacher or pursue a PhD, so I chose to continue independently whilst working in cultural field for a living.
A few years later, I was granted a program at an international photographic school in Paris to learn more about studio technics and light equipments. During all these years, photography was my main medium, a way to immerge myself into the world and using light as a medium. In 2012, just after a trip in Florence (Italy), after living for almost a decade in the the French capital, I needed a real change. I moved back to the south of France in 2013 where everything started. I felt the need to live near the sea and to be surrounded by the rich contrasts and the specific light of this area. There was also the desire to return to where it all really began for me.
In 2019, due to a personal event that led me to stay at home for a few months, my work has taken another path, my purpose changed and I definitively gave up photography to focus on abstraction, writing and drawing. Today, I work mainly on paper but I would like to develop my work in three dimensions as well.
My work has been published in international magazines and exhibited in a few group shows in France, Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom. My first solo show was at Galerie du Tableau, Marseille (France), in 2021.
